We recommend using only enough ChipCharwood to spread out on the FlavrQ Grid in an area roughly the shape and size of the food you plan to cook, with a 1/4 to 1/2 inch depth (never exceed ¾ inch depth). For example, if you are cooking several hamburgers, spoon a small pile underneath where you plan to cook each one, and spread each pile out to create the proper depth.
Add ChipCharwood after installing the FlavrQ Grid, before turning your gas grill on. Before turning your grill on, you can remove the cooking grate in order to precisely position the ChipCharwood for portion control, then be sure to replace the cooking grate before you turn the grill on. Or leave the cooking grate in place and just spoon or ladle ChipCharwood through the grate and use a spatula to push through any small pieces that remain on the grate.
If you are grilling in multiple sessions over an extended period of time (e.g., during an all-day barbecue event) and the ChipCharwood you initially added has become depleted, do not remove the hot cooking grate. Spoon or ladle more ChipCharwood through the grate, but never use more ChipCharwood than recommended (never exceed ¾ inch depth).
Important: Never use more ChipCharwood than recommended because fat dripping from meats onto a large amount of ChipCharwood can cause dangerous flames or fire. Never use FlavrQ ChipCharwood in your gas grill without the FlavrQ Grid. The FlavrQ Grid is not intended for use with any wood or charcoal product other than FlavrQ ChipCharwood. Never use the FlavrQ Grid with wood chips, wood pellets, or any charcoal product other than FlavrQ ChipCharwood.
