You can purchase both components separately, or simply buy the FlavrQ Starter Kit. Ready to teach your old grill new tricks? Elevate your taste buds to a whole new level with FlavrQ Charcoal Chips™.
Will the FlavrQ Grid fit my gas grill? How do I measure before ordering?
Please measure the area and the height inside your grill before ordering, as follows:
Area: The FlavrQ Grid will fit a gas grill with a minimum inside measurement of 14 ½” in the direction parallel to the radiant bars/heating elements (typically front to back), and an inside measurement of at least 12” perpendicular to the radiant bars/heating elements (typically side to side). Larger grills may accommodate multiple FlavrQ Grids — please measure carefully before ordering.
Height: Measure the distance from the top of the radiant bar/heating element covers to the bottom of the cooking grate. The FlavrQ System should work if this distance is 1 1/4” to from 6”. When installed, the top of your cooking grate should be at least 1 ½” above the top of the FlavrQ Grid.
Important: Never use the FlavrQ Grilling System without the protective radiant bar/heating element covers (triangular or flat) that came as original equipment with your gas grill in place.
Do I need to move my grill’s grate to use FlavrQ Charcoal Chips™?
No, once the FlavrQ Grid is installed, you don’t need to move your grill’s grate except when occasionally cleaning residual ash. Fueling and refueling with our patented Charcoal Chips™ is a breeze—simply drop the Charcoal Chips™ through the grate onto the FlavrQ Grid.
How much Charcoal Chips™ should I use?
For best results, we recommend a depth of ½” to ¾” placed underneath the specific sections of the grate where the food will be grilled. Using a depth of less than ½” may reduce heat and flavor.
Should I spread the Charcoal Chips™ over the whole FlavrQ Grid?
FlavrQ Charcoal Chips™ are designed for portion-controlled grilling. Spreading Charcoal Chips™ in sections where you’re not grilling food is unnecessary and wastes fuel.
When should I add Charcoal Chips™?
Add your Charcoal Chips™ to the FlavrQ Grid before you ignite the grill.
How do I know when it’s time to start grilling my food?
Unlike conventional charcoal, you don’t need to wait until there’s gray ash. Start grilling as soon as the Charcoal Chips™ begins to glow.
What heat level should I use when grilling with Charcoal Chips™?
For the best heat and flavor, set your gas grill at its highest heating level and keep it on high for the entire duration of the grilling session.
How do I refuel while grilling?
In most cases, you won’t need to add more FlavrQ Charcoal Chips™. If you do need to refuel while grilling, simply add more of our Charcoal Chips™ for gas grills as needed. You can spoon or ladle the Charcoal Chips™ directly onto the existing base.
What if some of the chips don’t fall through the grate?
Use a spatula or your preferred grilling tool to push any remaining chips onto the FlavrQ Grid.
Can I still use my grill without Charcoal Chips™?
Yes, the FlavrQ Grid can remain in place even if you’re not using Charcoal Chips™. In fact, it’ll even improve radiant heat distribution.
Can I use traditional charcoal briquettes with the FlavrQ Grilling System?
No, the FlavrQ Grilling System is designed for FlavrQ Charcoal Chips™ only. Using conventional charcoal may damage the FlavrQ Grid and will void your warranty.
Can I designate different heat zones on my grill with Charcoal Chips™?
Yes, the FlavrQ Grilling System is designed to facilitate professional-style grilling with three zones for flavor-searing, finishing, and holding. To prevent charring, be sure not to over-grill your food in the flavor-sear zone.
Do I need to clean out my grill after using Charcoal Chips™?
Because our Charcoal Chips™ for gas grills reduce residual ash by 90% compared to conventional charcoal, you should only need to clean the FlavrQ Grid after several grilling sessions. To ensure safe cleaning, wait at least one day after grilling to remove used Charcoal Chips™ and ash.
How should I store Charcoal Chips™?
Store your FlavrQ Charcoal Chips™ in the driest possible location to prevent minor sparking. Avoid any environment that’s humid or damp.
Can I use Charcoal Chips™ with an electric grill?
No, Charcoal Chips™ is designed for gas grills only. Using Charcoal Chips™ with an electric grill is a fire hazard.
Can I use Charcoal Chips™ with wood pellets or wood chips?
No, never combine our Charcoal Chips™ for gas grills with any other type of solid fuel.
How much Charcoal Chips™ is included with the FlavrQ Starter Kit?
The FlavrQ Starter Kit comes with one 3-lb bag of Charcoal Chips™.
